Hi all!
Well, we all knew that I would never keep up "weekly" posting, so I'm not even going to make excuses. :-)

We spent one afternoon at Elephant Butte Lake, which is formed from a dam across the Rio Grande. It was a beautiful warm day and we all wore our bathing suits, although I had no notion of our actually getting wet... I was after getting a suntan. :-) One of the boys got Becca's fishing line caught in some bushes that were growing up in the lake. We teased them that they should go in and get her lure. They actually did it! Poor Daniel tried first, but the lake bottom dropped off and he was actually over his head! He came back up to shore and his big brothers went in. The water was only about 50 degrees! You can tell by the look on Peter's face below that it really was cold!
We hope that you all had a wonderful Easter and that you are enjoying the arrival of spring. Here in CO, spring is... well, it's not so springy. As in we had some more snow on the ground this morning. So we decided to go south for spring break, and headed to a place called Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Despite the fact that most of us dubbed it "Elephant Butt", we had a really great time! (There is a butte in the middle of the lake that really does look like an elephant from one particular angle. Thus the name Elephant Butte.)
This was the first "camping" trip in our new travel trailer, and I must say that I really like the whole motel on wheels concept. Surprisingly, I didn't take a picture of our 34 foot long home away from home. I'll try to remember next time.
If you've never been to New Mexico, you might find it interesting to know that the song "Home on the Range" does a pretty good job of describing it. We saw many antelope and many more cows. Many miles of barbed wire and many tumbleweeds. There's not a whole lot to do in NM but embrace nature, so that's what we did. The pictures at the top of the page are some shots that I took from our favorite fishing spot on the Rio Grande. We pretty much spent the 3 days we were there relaxing, fishing and playing arou
nd in the water. Becca became an e
xcellent fisher-girl. She loves to cast and reel in. Daniel got the biggest catch, which was a fish scale the size of my thumbnail! It's just as well that we didn't catch anything, because then we'd have been obliged to clean and eat it!

Becca fell asleep on the way and slept the entire time we were there in the back seat of David's truck.

We are all sad to have to go back to school and work, and are anxiously awaiting summer!
