It's been an interesting weekend around here. I managed to oversee our ward's Young Women's Camp fundraiser, in which about 20 girls between the ages of 12 and 17 made 90 pies -- from scratch, including the crusts. Actually they made the crusts last weekend, but still, I think it was a pretty impressive task. I am pleased to announce that the girls did an excellent job, raised $1,200 and received many complements on the yumminess of their pies. I am glad that this activity is behind us, though, because it was pretty intense!
David has been working all weekend on finishing the overhang for our new basement door. He built what basically amounts to a little house over the big cement hole that will eventually have steps down to the basement door. He's been roofing it and siding it this weekend. Yesterday a finishing nail from his nail gun ricocheted off of something and flew back up -- and through his finger. He wouldn't let me take a picture for the blog, but basically a bent finishing nail was sticking out of both sides of the tip of his finger. One trip to the emergency room, a tetanus shot, and a handful of Novocaine later, and he's almost as good as new. Of course, he went back to work as soon as we came home, disregarding the fact that I forbade him to use power tools. Well, not exactly disregarding... when I scolded him, he informed me that nail guns are not power tools, they're pneumatic! Ahh, boys and their toys. What's a girl to do?
